Before you shoot or generate

Confirm four decisions: hero product, primary benefit, one objection to handle, and one clear CTA. If any of those is fuzzy, the reel will feel like a slideshow instead of a sales asset.

Upload catalog photos with readable details. Ideal set: hero angle, detail/texture, in-hand or in-use, and packaging if unboxing matters. Label shots honestly so AI or editors know which frame is the opener.

Write the commercial truth once: materials, sizes, who it is for, what problem it solves, price positioning, and claims you can legally and ethically support. This becomes the source of truth for hooks and captions.

Script and structure checklist

Second 0–3: hook that names the problem or promise. Example: “If your [problem], try this [product category]” or “Three reasons this [SKU] sells out every week.”

Middle: show proof—fit, texture, demo, comparison, or process. Keep cuts short. One idea only. Do not tour the entire catalog in a single reel.

Close: restate the benefit and deliver one CTA—“Shop the link,” “Available in 3 colors,” “DM size chart,” or “Offer ends Sunday.” If the CTA needs a second sentence, the reel is doing too many jobs.

Visual and mobile checklist

Shoot or generate in 9:16. Keep the product clear of UI-safe margins so text and stickers do not cover the hero. Test on a real phone, not only a desktop preview.

Assume silent viewing. On-screen text should be bold, high contrast, and under about seven words per beat. Captions in the video help accessibility and retention.

Avoid only sterile white-background motion if you also sell lifestyle value. Mix listing-clean shots with context so shoppers can imagine ownership.

Before you publish

Check claims, pricing accuracy, color/size availability, and that the scheduled time matches inventory and campaigns. Nothing erodes trust faster than a reel pushing an OOS hero SKU.

Brand-safety pass: no invented results, no competitor smears, no sensitive category overclaims. Especially careful with beauty, health-adjacent, kids, and financial promise language.

Metadata pass: caption clarity, first comment strategy if you use one, product tags where relevant, and a profile that can convert the click (clear offer, link, or DM path).

After publish: what to learn from each SKU reel

Compare reels by SKU family. Which hooks earned completion? Which drove profile visits or link taps? Promote winners into the next calendar cycle with a new angle rather than a total creative reset.

If reach is high but clicks are low, fix the CTA and landing clarity. If reach is low, fix the hook and first frame before you blame the product.

Fold learnings into the catalog brief. Better product details and photo sets improve every future AI generation and human edit—this is how e-commerce teams get leverage from reels instead of one-off luck.
